lately we have seen a lot of discussions going on over who should be given the test captaincy-dhoni or Kumble?.
most of the senior cricketers and some critics said that dhoni should be handed over the responsibility.anyhow now the decision has been made and kumble was retained as captain.
but in all the talks,opinions i have seen that most of the people who were in favour of kumble gave the reasons as - dhoni may not able to handle such pressure or he has had some luck and every day may not be a sunday so it is still eary for him or kumble only had just one bad series and he should be retained and some gave as usual some nonsense resaons.
one thing most of them forgot to consider is that dhoni is a 'wicketkeeper(WK)'. it is not an easy task to just keep the wickets in test match and over that shouldering the responsibility of captaincy is an herculean task.
some said that in test matches wicket keeping can be given to a new wicket keeper.but at the present situation i dont see any other WK better than dhoni.dhoni was far better than dinesh karthik and neither parthiv patel was impressive.
one more thing to note is that, there has been no WK captain who was successful in test matches till date and infact there were very few who were in such post.
also with the hectic schedules our indian players have it will be the most stupid thing to make dhoni captain for tests. I strongly believe that dhoni has all the qualities to be a captain in any format of the game and also has the skills to be touted as the most successful indian captain in future,infact he is half way through right now.
so i say kumble should be the one for now, and even after him dhoni should be given the post only if India finds a better WK and if we cant find one then we should think of an alternative choice for the captaincy post.
